Have some sweet vermouth on hand? Whip up this Manhattan Sauce to top off steaks, fish or pastas. Not only is it super easy and versatile sauce, but it adds some elegance without a whole lot of fuss in the kitchen.


  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large shallot, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sweet vermouth
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter


  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook shallots and garlic for about 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the vermouth. Cook for 30 seconds to a minute until liquid is reduced by half.
  4. Stir in the butter until well melted and sauce is creamy.
  5. Serve warm as desired.
