Fresh vegetables are best when simply cooked. This recipe for Easy Asparagus Spears uses a little bit of salt and pepper and some fresh lemon juice to bring out the natural taste of asparagus in a healthy and quick to prepare side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thin asparagus, tough ends trimmed
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Bring about 1 inch of water to boil in a sauce pan.
  2. Add asparagus and boil for about 3 minutes.
  3. Drain and season asparagus with a pinch or two of salt and pepper and lemon juice.
  4. Serve alongside you favorite main dishes.
