  • 4 medium cooking apples (Rome Beauty)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup crystallized ginger
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  1. Coarsely chop apples. Finely chop ginger.
  2. Combine apples, water, ginger, and brown sugar in a pan with a lid.
  3. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove liquid from the pan, stir in cinnamon, and serve.
