
Apple Butter

Delicious apple butter spread is perfect compliment to any breakfast bread or pastry. You will also need jars with lids and bands to store apple butter in and a large pot to boil the jars in order to seal them.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds sliced apples
- 1 quart cider or apple juice
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
Directions
- In large sauce pan, bring apples and juice to a boil over medium-high heat. Cover and simmer until tender.
- Drain liquid from apples and set aside.
- Press the apples through sieve then return them to the liquid; throw away peels.
- Return sauce pan to stove over medium heat.
- Add sugar, cinnamon, and cloves cooking for 5 minutes.
- Turn heat to low and cook until thick.
- Spoon butter into hot jars; cover with lids and bands then boil jars in large pot for 5 minutes to seal.
