If you are a mom with a picky eater or just want to switch up your little one's lunch, these make-ahead pinwheels are a great option. Great for kids young and old, these make a great lunch on the go or by the pool. Choose one of our three favorite pinwheel recipes or make them all. These are a great go-to idea for busy moms.

Pinwheel sandwiches

Sometimes as moms we have to get creative with our kids' lunches. These pinwheels are a great option since they are something you can just make ahead. They travel well and hold their shape without getting soggy. Take these to the pool, the beach or in the car while running errands.

Mexican-style pinwheel wrap

Yields 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large tortillas
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 chicken breast, cooked and shredded
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chicken, salsa and green onions well. Divide the mixture between the tortillas and spread out evenly. Roll up the tortillas keeping them as tightly rolled as possible.
  2. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for an hour or more. When ready to serve, remove the plastic wrap and cut into rounds. Serve immediately.

Peanut butter and banana pinwheel recipe

Yields 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortillas
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Directions:

  1. Divide the peanut butter and spread it evenly over each tortilla. Top with banana slices and drizzle with honey. Gently roll up keeping the tortilla as tightly rolled as possible.
  2. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for an hour or more. When ready to serve, remove the plastic wrap and cut into rounds. Serve immediately.

Turkey and cheese pinwheel recipes

Yields 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 tortillas
  • 1/4 pound honey roasted turkey
  • 2 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • Pickle slices

Directions:

  1. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and honey mustard on each tortilla. Divide the turkey between the 2 tortillas and top with a slice of cheese and pickle slices. Roll up keeping the tortillas as tightly rolled as possible.
  2. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for an hour or more. When ready to serve, remove the plastic wrap and cut into rounds. Serve immediately.
