Salted peanut caramel ice cream dessert

It is well known that kids love ice cream sandwiches. In fact, big kids (adults) love ice cream sandwiches, too! This is a fun dessert to make for any occasion and for any age group. Using ice cream sandwiches make the dessert easy to make, yet it will taste as though you spent far more time creating it! The salted peanuts and caramel really kick up the ice cream sandwich into a delicious and unique dessert for your parties. Being able to make this dessert ahead of time lets you also relax, sit back and enjoy the festivities!

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar (16 ounce) chocolate syrup
  • 19 ice cream sandwiches
  • 1 (12 ounce) container of frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce (peanut butter may be substituted)
  • 1 cup salted peanuts or chopped pecans or chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Pour the syrup into a microwave safe bowl, and heat 2 minutes on high.
  2. Stir the caramel sauce (or peanut butter) into the syrup until it is smooth. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  3. Line the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch dish with nine and a half ice cream sandwiches.
  4. Spread half of the whipped topping over the ice cream sandwiches. Spoon half of the chocolate mixture over the whipped topping.
  5. Top with the nuts (if you are using), then repeat the layers.
  6. Freeze for one hour, or until they are firm.
  7. Drizzle with the chocolate sauce. Cut into squares to serve.
