Star spangled Rice Krispies pops
Ingredients:
- 6 cups rice cereal, divided
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 (14 ounce) package of jet puffed marshmallows, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon blue food coloring
- Popsicle sticks
Directions:
- Heat a medium saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the bottom of the pan.
- Once the butter is melted, add in 1/3 of the jet puffed marshmallows. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completely melted.
- Add in 2 cups of rice cereal, and stir until it is completely coated with marshmallow. Transfer to a glass baking dish, flatten until level, and allow to cool.
- Wash out the saucepan and once again melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the saucepan. Once melted, add in 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring and another 1/3 bag of marshmallows, stirring until marshmallows are completely melted.
- Add in 2 more cups of rice cereal and sir until coated. Transfer to a separate glass baking dish and allow to cool.
- Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients, using the blue food coloring.
- Once the Rice Krispies Treats have completely cooled, use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut out the treats. Place each star on a Popsicle stick and serve.
