By the first day of school, most teachers have worked overtime to make their classroom a warm and welcome place for your child. What better way to thank them than with a jar of homemade apple butter?

Apple butterAn apple for teacher

An unofficial survey given years ago by the PTA indicated that most teachers preferred edible gifts to just about any other type of offering, no matter how thoughtfully given. Here, then, are three delicious apple butter recipes, all of which are made in a crockpot and are easy enough for even kindergarteners to help make.

VariEties of apple butter

ABC Apple Butter is a basic apple pie flavored butter, warm with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Red Apple Butter offers the deep pink color and flavor kick of red cinnamon candies, and Caramel Apple Butter is rich with the flavor of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Spoon your finished apple butters into pint-sized containers and top with a homemade sticker for a simple, delicious, and personalized gift for your favorite teacher. No matter which flavor of apple butter you make, this is one start of the school year gift that is certain to earn you an A+!
